KATHERINE DUNLAP

As a landscape painter, I am sensitive to the ways in which our natural environment shapes first-person experience. I’m not only interested in the physical and aesthetic details of our surroundings, but our emotional response to their presence. Whether it be an idealized memory associated with a specific location or an instinctive reaction to a natural space, my work seeks to marry the physical and emotional forms of my environment.

Katherine’s work exists in a realm between truth and memory. It’s a visual recollection of a place that doesn’t necessarily exist but instead a place that someone has an idealized memory of. -Victor Hart
